Ulster County Habitat for Humanity
Ulster County Habitat for Humanity, founded in 1996, is a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve homes. Studies demonstrate that affordable housing plays a critical role in creating strong and stable communities. Every person deserves a decent, safe place to live. Together with our supportive community, Ulster Habitat helps families and individuals build homes, ensuring a brighter future with multi-generational benefits.
Since 1996, Ulster Habitat has helped 24 homebuyers purchase Habitat homes in Ulster County. Habitat partner families are good neighbors who take pride in homeownership. Each new Habitat house contributes to Ulster County's tax base and to the long-term stability of the community.
The Ulster County Habitat for Humanity ReStore, located on Route 28 in Kingston, opened in 2013. The sale of donated furniture, housewares, and building materials generates hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to support their housing mission while keeping more than 420 tons of waste out of landfills.
